The Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice and Primary Care Network are supporting the launch of ParentTV: an online platform offering over 2,000 videos and courses on pregnancy, parenting, child development, and youth mental health. The content was developed and curated by a global network of experts, including psychologists, pediatricians, mental health specialists, neuroscientists, child occupational therapists, nutritionists, research-based parenting educators, and legal professionals.
ParentTV is a free, evidence-based resource that helps extend care beyond appointments. In addition to providing physicians with resources, ParentTV offers families an accessible, evidence-based platform they can access on demand without paywalls or program fees.
This will reduce strain on physicians by improving families’ access to reliable, preventive information before issues escalate and require clinical intervention.
Thanks to partnerships with a local community health clinic, Healthy Essentials, and the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL), Central Okanagan families can access content at no cost. Currently, access to ParentTV is available to individuals who are within the ORL service area, which includes parts of the South Okanagan Similkameen, Shuswap North Okanagan, and areas within Kootenay Boundary.
The Division played a key role in bringing ParentTV to the community through promotion and partnership with the Healthy Essentials Clinic. If you would like to learn more about their experience, reach out to Mateusz Zawada, Director of Programs and Planning for the Central Okanagan Division for more information.
Divisions are an initiative funded by the FPSC. Divisions looking to implement similar work in their communities can reach out to Mateusz Zawada, Director of Programs and Planning for the Central Okanagan Division.
