The General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) is pleased to welcome Dr Janet Evans as the newest Doctors of BC member.
Dr Evans is a family doctor and medical director at CGB Medical in Kelowna. She opened the office in 2016 after a 10-year hiatus from family medicine. Given how much the world had changed in that time, Dr Evans was astounded to find nothing had changed in family practice.
This led to her current course to transform family medicine for herself and others. She was introduced to quality improvement in 2017 and enjoys trying new ways of improving her office flow.
Among Dr Evans’ passions are billing education, team-based care, and quality improvement. Chair of the Patterns of Practice Committee with Doctors of BC since 2020 (and committee member since 2016), Dr Evans has also been very active in the Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice, where she helped pilot the nurse-in-practice initiative and mentored doctors on team-based care as part of the division’s primary care network working group.
She continues to mentor family doctors across B.C. on team-based care and is always on the lookout for practice innovations that make family doctors' work more efficient and enjoyable.
At home, Dr Evans is mom to four boys: Denzel (26), Theo (23), Julian and Gabriel (17).
“I am looking forward to working on GPSC to help find solutions to the current challenges facing family doctors,” says Dr Evans. “I believe changes can be made to improve and make family practice sustainable.”
