Last week, the After Hours Care service started accepting calls from patients. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to the dedicated team at Doctors of BC, HealthLink BC, our pilot divisions, those who have signed up to use the service with their patients, and of course those who signed up to staff the service.
The first two weeks are all about ensuring our processes work properly, our staffing physicians are comfortable with the solution, and we have processed all of the sign-ups in the backlog of those wanting to use the service with their patients. We have made countless tweaks as we gain real-world experience managing calls and review each of them to learn how to improve. So far we have asked that you don't talk about the service with your patients. We want to do our learning and rapid improvements before we open it up by making patients aware of the service. In the weeks ahead, we will send out patient-facing communications materials: once you receive them then please start mentioning the service to your patients—it's meant to be an extension of the excellent care you already offer.

Communicating about the service with patients
While we have sufficient staffing to handle the projected call volumes at launch, we'd like to take a few weeks to ensure everything is running smoothly before you start actively promoting the service with your attached patients.
Please do not promote the service with your patients until we send you patient-facing materials to use online and in your office.
