After Hours Care
Thank you for your interest in the After Hours Care (AHC) program.
This program was designed to provide care to patients when family practices are closed in the evenings, on weekends, and on holidays. It was staffed by family doctors and administered through HealthLinkBC.
Given its current resources, the Ministry of Health decided it is no longer feasible to fund the AHC program as it is currently structured. As of October 1, 2026, the Ministry of Health will no longer provide funding for the program or infrastructure to deliver it through HealthLinkBC.
FPSC continues to see the value of this program and its positive impact—for patients, physicians, and our health care system overall. We are working to develop a provincial solution for after-hours coverage. In the coming months, we will share our progress towards a provincial solution.
