Dr Kevin Martin is the newest Doctors of BC appointee to the Family Practice Services Committee.
A BC family physician since 2008, Dr Martin brings a variety of experiences to the role, having served in positions with the Divisions of Family Practice, Doctors of BC, UBC, BC Family Doctors, and Island Health Authority.
Dr Martin is passionate about facilitating collaboration between primary and specialist care throughout community and hospital settings. He is a strong advocate for addressing inequality, systemic racism, and the gender pay gap in medicine and health care economics.
He believes serving others and prioritizing their needs empowers individuals and fosters a supportive environment where everyone can grow and thrive.
“We face an unprecedented time of sociopolitical and health system uncertainty and change,” Dr Martin says. “We have to look at how we can approach our future differently to our past; this requires new people and new thinking, from leaders with experience in empathetic representative leadership.”
