With many community doctors turning to virtual care to keep patients and staff safe during the pandemic, one of the questions raised was: “What can we do to help vulnerable patients who don’t have access to technology?” Dr Pardeep Dhillon and the Maple Ridge Division of Family Practice stepped up the challenge.
The following Ministry of Health communication was shared with health authorities, divisions and other partners earlier this fall. The framework recognizes that we must work together in our pandemic approach. The document is being shared with our partners at this time to help primary care put supports in place to actively respond to COVID-19 testing and care in the community throughout the fall and winter.
December 2020 update: The application deadline has been extended from December 31st, 2020 to January 31st, 2021. Holiday Closure Notice Doctors of BC will be closed from December 24th 2020 – January 3rd 2021, and will reopen for normal business hours on January 4th, 2021. Applications will be accepted until January 31st, 2021 and any applications submitted after November 29th will be processed for payment in January 2021.
With influenza season around the corner, many divisions and physicians are considering how they will approach flu vaccinations this year. A wave of COVID-19 and flu in the fall would be a double burden on seniors and other high-risk groups. With COVID-19 still circulating in the province, we anticipate that the need and demand for flu vaccinations will be high.
