New fee supports team-based care and coordination of care
The GPSC is introducing a new family physician brief clinical conference fee, 14067, that supports family doctors in coordinating patient care with other doctors and providers. Family doctors provided feedback to the GPSC that they’re having multiple conferences with other doctors and providers that are shorter than the eight minutes required to bill 14077, and that their time spent on these brief conferences was unfunded.
The new fee addresses this feedback. It is payable for two-way case conferencing that’s less than eight minutes in duration by telephone, videoconferencing, or in-person between the family doctor and an allied care provider and/or another doctor. For two-way conferencing longer than eight minutes to create a plan of care, doctors can bill 14077.
What is the value of the fee?
The fee has a value of $18.22 and is payable to a maximum of 150 times per doctor in a calendar year.
Who is eligible for the fee?
The fee is payable to the family doctor who is most responsible for the patient’s longitudinal primary care and has submitted and met one of the requirements below:
- Community longitudinal family physician (CLFP) portal code (14070)
- Locum CLFP code (14071)
- Long-term care portal code (14072)
- Registered in a GPSC maternity care network or a GPSC unassigned in-patient network.
When is the fee available?
Family doctors can begin billing the new family physician brief clinical conference fee on MSP Teleplan starting October 5, 2021 and retroactively bill the fee for services provided from October 1, 2021.The new brief clinical conference fee complements existing conference fees such as 14077 (conferencing of eight minutes or more) and 13005 (advice about a patient in community care). These fees support family doctors providing team-based care and comprehensive longitudinal care to their patients.
For billing and eligibility information, read the fee guide.
New fee for confirming the addition of a new patient to a panel
The GPSC is introducing a new patient intake fee, 14041, for confirming the addition of a new patient to the doctor’s panel. In order to bill 14041, the longitudinal doctor-patient relationship must be confirmed through a standardized conversation or ‘compact’.
What is the value of the fee?
This fee has a value of $15. Who is eligible for the fee? The fee is payable to the family doctors who will be most responsible for the majority of the patient’s longitudinal primary care and who has submitted and met the requirements for the community longitudinal family physician portal code, 14070, in the calendar year.
When is the fee available?
Family doctors can begin billing the new patient intake fee on MSP Teleplan starting October 5, 2021. The new patient intake fee can be billed within the first three months of adding a new patient to their patient panel.
For billing and eligibility information, read the fee guide.
