Family physicians can bill the new maternity care risk assessment fee (14002) in MSP Teleplan starting Tuesday, April 5, 2022. GPSC created the $50 fee in response to requests from maternity care providers to strengthen support for early prenatal care.
Based on a process established in the last Physician Master Agreement, several of the GPSC fees have been increased. The fees actually went into effect April 1, 2020 but are being implemented now due to pandemic delays. Family doctors can expect to receive an MSP retroactive payment in spring 2022.

In response to requests from maternity care providers to create a fee to better support early prenatal care, GPSC is announcing the new maternity risk assessment fee.
This year's Community Longitudinal Family Physician (CLFP) payment will increase by an average of $6200 over last year’s average payment. This includes a one-time payment (an average of $5000) to eligible family physicians, along with an ongoing increase (an average of $1200). Family physicians will receive this payment in February 2022.
At its last GPSC meeting, members approved one year of enhanced funding to support the networks of family doctors who are providing longitudinal care for hospital inpatients in 47 communities. This funding will enable the GPSC to collaborate with partners to identify a process for developing a sustainable long-term solution for this work.

Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the growth of mental health needs and the risk of substance use disorder in patients, the GPSC is improving access to the mental health management fees and expanding the personal health risk assessment fee to better support family doctors and their patients.

The GPSC is introducing two new fees to support family doctors providing team-based care, coordinating care, and confirming a new patient intake. Read more below.
Family doctors who have completed panel management are eligible for a new $1,000 GPSC payment if they enrol in HDC Discover and complete the orientation in the web based application. The payment supports family doctors to utilize the application to make data-informed quality improvements in their practices. HDC Discover is a is a physician-led web based application that supports quality improvement in primary care.
