Small group learning sessions (SGLS) organized by the Practice Support Program (PSP) give doctors the opportunity to discuss, discover, and share learnings in a practical environment. Topics are informed by doctors and divisions at a community level to ensure learnings are locally relevant. Content is evidence-based, meets Mainpro+ certification requirements, and is developed and adapted by the provincial office in partnership with doctors, educational organizations, and subject matter experts.

In a video for the Burnaby Division of Family Practice, GPSC co-chair Dr Shelley Ross discusses what led her to practice general practice and maternity care in Burnaby. The video is one in a series that promote the city to doctors who may be interested in practising in the area. Doug Hughes has been appointed as the new GPSC’s new Ministry of Health co-chair. Doug is the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Health Services Policy and Quality Assurance Division. Doug has worked with the provincial government for the past 28 years in various positions and has led policy development and service management for children and families, seniors, mental health and substance use, acute care, and services to people with disabilities.
