BC Care Bundle for supporting high-risk patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and influenza season

Primary care providers, including family physicians, have played a critical role in preventing and reducing the transmission of COVID-19 in BC communities. We thank you for your continued care of British Columbians during the pandemic and support of the 2020-21 influenza immunization campaign. Updates on fee codes 14029, 14076 and 13706

To support interprofessional care during COVID-19, until further notice, doctors can submit 14029 for chronic disease management visits provided via telehealth by an allied care provider. The change is effective June 1, 2020 and doctors may bill 14029 retroactively. Additionally, new clarifications are now available on the appropriate use of fee codes 14076 and 13706 (the family physician-patient telephone management fee and the family physician delegated patient telehealth management fee, respectively). Please see below for details on these fee code updates.

Initially approved by GPSC in 2019, new rules for family physicians billing codes 14070 and 14071 take effect January 1, 2021. Changes include a new definition for Community Longitudinal Family Physician (CLFP) in the GPSC Preamble. Physicians need to ensure they meet the new rules when billing 14070 and 14071. The new rules can be found below.

Holiday Closure Notice

Doctors of BC will be closed from December 24th 2020 – January 3rd 2021, and will reopen for normal business hours on January 4th, 2021. Applications will be accepted until January 31st, 2021 and any applications submitted after November 29th will be processed for payment in January 2021.

Message to divisions on flu immunization

With influenza season around the corner, many divisions and physicians are considering how they will approach flu vaccinations this year. A wave of COVID-19 and flu in the fall would be a double burden on seniors and other high-risk groups.  With COVID-19 still circulating in the province, we anticipate that the need and demand for flu vaccinations will be high.
