GPSC seeks family physician member

The recent appointment of Dr Sari Cooper as co-chair of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) has created an opportunity for a family physician interested in playing a role in the future of primary care. We encourage anyone who is interested to consider submitting an application to join the committee as the newest Doctors of BC member.

Dr Sari Cooper becomes new physician co-chair of GPSC

The Board of Directors of Doctors of BC has appointed Dr Sari Cooper as the new co-chair of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC). Dr Cooper is a family physician in Victoria, BC who has practiced community-based longitudinal family medicine since 2001. She has been a member of the GPSC since 2019.

Registration open for 2022 JCC Pre-Forum

BC doctors are invited to register now for this year’s JCC Pre-Forum on May 31, 2022 in-person from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Vancouver, BC.

Part of the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council’s Quality Forum (May 31 – June 2, 2022), the Pre-Forum is presented by the Joint Collaborative Committees (JCC), a partnership of Doctors of BC and the BC Government.

May 31, 2022 Update: Launch postponed

The launch of the Leading Together pilot program has been postponed to ensure Indigenous perspectives are deeply and meaningfully reflected in the course content and that the learning space reflects the principles of cultural safety and humility.

Changes to physician representatives on the GPSC

The following changes are taking place in the physician membership of the GPSC.

  • Physician co-chair Dr Anthon Meyer is resigning for health reasons. He will transition out of the role by April 29, 2022.

Increases to GPSC fees

Feb 28, 2022

Based on a process established in the last Physician Master Agreement, several of the GPSC fees have been increased. The fees actually went into effect April 1, 2020 but are being implemented now due to pandemic delays. Family doctors can expect to receive an MSP retroactive payment in spring 2022.
